Welcome to the FHA Insurance member of the
unclaimed money family.
If you had an FHA-insured mortgage, you may
be eligible for a refund from HUD/FHA.
Anyone who financed their home with a
HUD/FHA loan was required to take out a
mortgage insurance policy which protected
the actual Lender in case of default.
The cost of this insurance policy was paid
at closing and could have cost up to 3% of
the loan amount. This FHA-mortgage
insurance policy was financed and added
into the mortgage amount explaining why
many homeowners have forgotten they had
paid for this insurance premium.
If the homeowner paid off the loan early,
sold the home or refinanced the loan with a
lower non-FHA loan, the mortgage insurance
policy is terminated.
If the policy was short rated, not allowed
to go to full term, it is very likely, the
homeowner is due a prorated refund of their
unused insurance premium.
By the time HUD/FHA is notified that the
insurance is to be terminated, the
homeowner likely has moved on. HUD/FHA
sends a letter to homeowner informing them
of refund eligibility to the last known
address and the homeowner never receives
the notice. Currently there are over
750,000 individuals who are owned over
$500,000,000 in unclaimed FHA mortgage
insurance refunds.
We are able to resource information in
databases that include all of these FHA
Mortgage insurance unclaimed refunds, plus
Mortgages for indian reservations, Hawaiian
Home Lands, and Native American Lands data.
You may be eligible for a refund of a
portion of the insurance premium if
you:
- acquired your loan after September 1,
1983
- paid an up-front mortgage insurance
premium at closing and
- did not default on your mortgage
payments.
Distributive Share: You may be eligible for
a share of any excess earnings from the
Mutual Mortgage Insurance Fund if you:
- originated your loan before September 1,
1983
- paid on your loan for more than seven
years and
- had your FHA insurance terminated before
November 5, 1990.
To determine if you or a member of your
